Dear valued patients,

 

As some of you may have heard, Alberta Health Care has announced changes to exam coverage. These changes include the elimination of some services and a reduction of as much as 32% for others. The last time Alberta Health Care made inflation adjustments for optometric services was in 2017.  This affects children and senior exams, as well as, coverage related to specific eye diseases, medical conditions and urgent, medically related appointments. Unfortunately, this change means we must implement co-pays and fees for certain services that may have otherwise been covered by Alberta Health Care. We understand and know how frustrating this may be, but have done our best to keep these fees as low as possible and wanted to keep you informed about these pricing updates. Alberta Health Care implemented these changes on very short notice and they took effect February 1st, 2025, however we wanted to give ample notice thus we will implement the following fees March 1st, 2025:
  1. A co-pay of $50 for Senior exams (65 years and up)
  2. A co-pay of $25 for Children exams (up to 19th birthday)
  3. A co-pay of $35 for urgent, medically related appointments
